WELLFOOD ACTION Meeting @ Izola

From 28th to 29th of September took place in Izola the second meeting of the European project WELLFOOD ACTION.

For the VRAI group were present Prof. Emanuele Frontoni and Marina Paolanti.

WELLFOOD ACTION aims at strengthening innovation capacity of Adriatic Regions on agri-food sector, by stimulating the link between business, RTD-innovation Centers,producers-consumers as a pillar for territorial growth, development and integration of the area.

Domotica e Persone con Disabilità: Prospettive Educative e Soluzioni Costruttive @ Pordenone

Prof. Emanuele Frontoni, Dr. Ilaria Ercoli and Ph.D. student Annalisa Cenci attended the convention “Domotica e Persone con Disabilità: Prospettive Educative e Soluzioni Costruttive” in Pordenone, Italy, on 27th September 2016, organized by ANCE, Associazione dei Costruttori Edili of Poredenone and by Laluna, Onlus social enterprise.
They presented a speech entitled “Tecnologie per l’Ambient Assisted Living, creazione di spazi intelligenti, sviluppi e ricerche in corso” under the project HDOMO 2.0.

UNIVPM - INTERMAC Joint Venture

VRAI group, in cooperation with INTERMAC, leading company of glass and marble manufacturing, partecipated to the Glasstech Fair (Dusseldorf 20-23 Sept) and Marmomacc Fair (Verona 28th Sept. 1st Oct). During the exhibition we presented an Augmented Reality application designed for Smart Glasses, with the aim of helping operators for their working activities.
Tests conducted during the fair demonstrate that Augmented Reality can be a valuable support for the training on the job.

Arqueologica 2.0 Conference @ Valencia

Archaeology met Digital Cultural Heritage in Valencia, during the International Conference Arqueologica 2.0. The Virtualization of Ancient sites is the key for promoting the knowledge of our heritage. Roberto presented an article titled "Esquina Multimedia - Museum exhibition for the visualization of Chan Chan archaeological site".

 

PhD Student @ Lincoln (UK)

Ph.D. student Daniele Liciotti studied for five months at Lincoln Centre for Autonomous Systems Research (L-CAS) in the School of Computer Science at the University of Lincoln (UK).
During this period, he was engaged in a project in the area of activity monitoring, involving the interaction of humans with particular objects under the supervision of Prof. Tom Ducket and Dr. Nicola Bellotto.

ISPRS Conference @ Prague

 

Roberto Pierdicca presented two article at the International Conference ISPRS, the International Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing.

The titles of the article are the following:

"UAV surveying for a complete mapping and documentation of archaeological findings. The Early Neolithic site of Portonovo."

"Virtual reconstruction of lost architectures: from the TLS survey to AR interaction"

ISPRS is a leading organization in remote sensing, photogrammetry and spatial information sciences - very high-resolution satellite imagery, terrain based imaging and participatory sensing, inexpensive platforms, and advanced information and communications technologies, taking place every 4 years.

WELLFOOD ACTION Kick-Off Meeting @ Dubrovnik

From 6th to 8th of July took place in Dubrovnik the Kick-off meeting of the European project WELLFOOD.

AVR 2016 @ Otranto

PhD Student Roberto Pierdicca attended the AVR 2016 Conference in Otranto, Italy.

The conference intends to bring together researchers, scientists, and practitioners to discuss key issues, approaches, ideas, open problems, innovative applications and trends on virtual and augmented reality, 3D visualization and computer graphics in the areas of medicine, cultural heritage, arts, education, entertainment, industrial and military sectors.

In this occasion, the following three articles were presented:

- Cyberarchaeology: improved way findings for archaeological parks through mobile augmented reality. 
- Automatic Analysis of Eye-Tracking Data for Augmented Reality Applications: A Prospective Outlook.
- Improving the development of AR application for artwork collections with standard data layer. 

 

 

PFIZER Seminar: Innovation driven by smart manufacturing and industry 4.0

Pfizer with sponsorship of AFI & ISPE organized the last 21st june at Hotel Casale, Colli del Tronto (AP), a seminar to share the vision and challenges to pursue new opportunities. Improve knowledge, common understanding and awareness on Status of the Art and Trends of this innovative industrial revolution to Manufacturing Automation known as SMART MANUFACTURING / INDUSTRY 4.0. Explore enabling technologies and how to access to available funds. Identify potential business opportunities enabled by SM. Compare the European approach (INDUSTRY 4.0) vs. the US approach (SMART MANUFACTURING).

  • End Users (Pharma)

The Rector of UNIVPM Professor Sauro Longhi attended with a presentation entitled "Scientific Research and the Roamap of Industry National Cluster". It was about Pathways of National and European Research towards INDUSTRY 4.0. Funds, Programs and opportunities promoted by EU Community. 

Professor Emanuele Frontoni, Professor Maurizio Bevilacqua and Professor Andrea Monteriù of UNIVPM attended with a presentation entitled "Smart Manufacturing: State of the art and perspective". It was about the smart manufacturing scenario that is a set of infrastructure and approaches that lets operators make real-time use of big data flows from fully-instrumented plants in order to improve productivity, optimize supply chains, and improve energy, water, and materials use. Best practices from SoA and future perspectives was presented to set up a common ground of discussion.

Meeting GIRPR (Gruppo Italiano Ricercatori in Pattern Recognition) 2016 @ Grado

Professor Primo Zingaretti and Professor Emanuele Frontoni attended at the Meeting GIRPR (Gruppo Italiano Ricercatori in Pattern Recognition) in Grado from 15-17 June 2016.

The meeting of GIRPR  was organized by the Department of Mathematics, Computer Science and Physics of University of Udine (Italy). The meeting was open to GIRPR members, to researchers in the areas of Signal Processing, Pattern Recognition, Computer Vision, Machine Learning, Speech Recognition, Multimedia and to companies that develop systems and/or products in these fields.
